WEST WINDSOR, N.J. — The Marietta College men's rowing team wrapped up the 2021 season at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship Saturday (May 29). The Pioneers had three shells entered and finished 25th in the country with 50 team points.
Marietta's third varsity crew was set to race in the third level final. However, a sheared seat pin prevented the Pioneers from competing costing the Navy Blue and White additional team points.
The varsity eight crew placed fifth in the fifth level final. Gonzaga won the final with a time of 6:34.672, followed by Jacksonville (6:37.472), Bates (6:40.649), San Diego (6:42.198) and Marietta (6:43.949). Stetson was a scratch.
In the second varsity eight fourth level final, Marietta posted a third-place finish. Oregon State won with a time of 6:42.327. Marist crossed in 6:45.756 with Marietta (6:48.459) three seconds behind. Gonzaga was fourth with a time of 6:51.562, followed by Saint Josephs (7:00.176) and San Diego (7:04.836).
