PRINCETON, New Jersey — The Marietta College men's rowing team concluded the fall racing season at the Princeton Chase on Lake Carnegie Sunday (Nov. 7) afternoon. The Pioneers raced eights, fours, pairs and singles in the final race of 2021.

"In the Eights, our first boat had a good piece and they ended up similar in speed to where they had been in Boston two weeks ago," Marietta head coach Greg Myhr said. "Our 2nd Varsity, with an updated line-up, had a terrific row and in fact, finished one second faster than our 1V. I'm very encouraged by our depth at this point in the year."

Princeton A won the heavyweight eight race with a time of 12:26.673 edging Syracuse A (12:26.983) by less than one second. Marietta B finished in 13:53.434 to place 30th, just ahead of Marietta A (13:54.726) in 31st.

"Everyone from the eights went back out in small boats for a 2nd run. Our fours raced hard and did fine, but the afternoon was highlighted by our 2nd and 4th place finishes in the Single by Drayton (Piper) and Kade (Hennacy), Myhr said. "Our B Double of Dylan (Dalpedri) and Will (Hoffman) also did quite well. Despite drawing a 10 second penalty, they still finished 3rd."

Syracuse A won the men's fours with a time of 13:58.892 ahead of Princeton A (14:00.100) and Princeton B (14:09.430). Marietta A finished 22nd with a time of 15:35.120. Marietta B (16:15.677) was 28th and Marietta C (17:13.095) was 30th.

In the men's pairs, Princeton crews claimed the top two spots. Princeton A won with a time of 15:14.052, followed by Princeton Lightweight A (15:40.811) and Marietta B (15:43.474). Marietta A was 6th with a time of 16:08.036.

Drayton Piper (Roswell, Ga./Roswell) posted a time of 17:36.226 to place second in the men's singles. Kade Hennacy (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) was fourth with a time of 17:41.679, followed by Joseph Madrid (Mineral Wells, W.Va./Parkersburg South) (17:48.507) in fifth, Peter Bertram (Schenectady, N.Y.) (17:56.376) in seventh, Matthew Rought (Mason, Ohio/Mason) (18:05.875) eighth, Bret McGettigan (18:15.322) tenth, Edmund Lynch (Marietta, Ga./Walton) (18:55.156) eleventh and Colby Pasour (Lincolnton, N.C./Highland) (18:57.707) twelfth.
