MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted the 19th annual Chuck Cornelius Memorial Run & Walk on Saturday (Oct. 12) morning. Proceeds from the annual event are used to support SAAC's yearly activities, including a partnership with the Special Olympics.
Despite cold temperatures and some rain, the annual Homecoming Saturday morning kickoff went off as scheduled. The 2-mile course started and finished in front of the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center.
Prizes were awarded to the top male and female runners and top male and female walkers. Johnathan Kungle was the first runner across the finish line completing the course in 13:29.22. Katie Vickers took the top female runner honors with a time of 16:08.
Marietta College's Jason Mader was the fastest male walker. Mader crossed the finish line in 19:33, while Hunter Barnes completed the race in 32:26 to take home the top female walker accolades.
