Box Score 2 MARIETTA, Ohio – Marietta College swept a non-conference softball doubleheader from the College of Wooster Sunday (April 13) afternoon at Marietta Field. The Pioneers mercy ruled the Scots in game one, 10-0, and then completed the sweep with a 7-5 win in the second game.
Marietta (18-10 overall) scored seven unearned runs in the bottom of the fourth inning in game one. The Pioneers scored single runs in each of the first three frames before erupting for the seven spot.
Wooster (10-19 overall) committed two costly errors in the fourth inning as the Pioneers ended up sending 10 hitters to the plate. The big blow was a grand slam off the bat of shortstop
(Bloomingdale/Indian Creek) each knocked in runs with singles.
Rylee Bouillion (4-3) started and pitched 3.2 innings in the losing effort. She gave up seven runs on nine hits and walked three.
The Fighting Scots used the long ball to stay in the game. Designated player Georgia Hill crushed a pair of solo shots and finished 3-for-3 at the plate. Three Marietta errors in the seventh inning allowed Wooster to score two runs and bring the tying run to the plate. Marietta changed pitchers and Kerwood induced a pop up to end the game.
Bloom and Schlabach each finished 3-for-4. Bloom scored twice and Schlabach had a double. Montgomery was 2-for-4 with a pair of runs batted in and Tarski scored twice.
