Box Score 2 MARIETTA, Ohio – Marietta College split an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader with Heidelberg University Saturday (April 12) afternoon at the sixth annual Community Softball Day. The Pioneers won the first game 6-2, while Heidelberg took game two, 6-1.
With the split, Marietta is 16-10 on the season and remains in first place in the OAC with a 9-3 record. Heidelberg is also 16-10 overall and 5-7 in conference play.
The Student Princes came out swinging and notched seven base hits in the first three innings to claim a 2-0 lead. A defensive miscue by the Pioneers in the top of the first helped Heidelberg plate a run.

(Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) also had two hits and two RBI in the game for the Pioneers.
Kelley delivered a two-out, two-single up the middle in the bottom of the fifth inning to extend Marietta's lead to 6-2.
Sophomore Paige Atterholt (8-4) started in the circle for Heidelberg and took the loss. She worked 4.2 innings and allowed six runs, only one earned, on nine base hits. Atterholt walked three.
Heidelberg jumped on top in the first inning of the nitecap as well. The Student Princes scored three runs in the opening frame and eventually pushed their advantage to 6-0.
Schlabach (7-6) started and got the loss for the Pioneers. She gave up four runs on eight hits in 3.0 innings of work. Kerwood threw the final 4.0 innings and allowed two runs.
Freshman Erin Chapman (8-6) had the Pioneer hitters popping up all game long. Chapman went all 7.0 innings and allowed one unearned run on just four base hits for the win.
Marietta's lone run came in the sixth inning. With two outs, Curry reached on a walk and moved to second on a passed ball. Freshman
Cierra Bloom (Dennison/Claymont) lined a single to center scoring Curry.
