Washington & Jefferson downs Baseball in extra-inning slugfest

Junior Mitch Geers hit the Pioneers' first home run of the season
Box Score MARIETTA, Ohio – Washington and Jefferson College scored two runs in the top of the tenth inning to defeat No. 11-ranked Marietta College by the score of 12-10 Thursday (March 27) evening at Don Schaly Stadium. The loss drops Marietta to 11-5 on the season, while the Presidents evened their record at 7-7.

Typical of a non-conference game played late in the week, both teams used a lot of young pitchers in the game and the offenses took advantage of the situation. The two teams accounted for 22 runs and 30 base hits.

W&J's Derek McIlvaine and D.J. Michalski both went 4-for-6 in the game. McIlvaine had a pair of doubles and four runs scored, while Michalski drove in six runs in the game.
