Box Score 2 AUBURNDALE, Fla. – For the second straight day the Marietta College softball team split a pair of games Monday (March 10) morning at the Rebel Spring Games. The Pioneers defeated Suffolk University by the score of 3-2 and fell to Hiram College, 7-0.
The Pioneers are currently 2-2 on the season.
Sophomore
Trinity Schlabach (Wooster/Waynedale) drove in two of the Pioneers' three runs against Suffolk (0-1 overall). She singled through the left side of the infield in the second inning to score
Rachel Montgomery (Massillon/Perry) and did it again in the sixth scoring
Hannah Tarski (Independence/Independence).
Suffolk scored a run in the second and another in the third to take a 2-1 lead. Marietta starting pitcher
Alexis O'Hair (Maumee/Maumee) (2-0) blanked the Rams over the final four frames to get her second win of the season. O'Hair pitched 7.0 innings and scattered nine hits. She struck out five and didn't walk a batter.
Sarah Chase (0-1) took the loss for Suffolk. Chase allowed three runs on six hits ion 5.1 innings of work. She walked three and struck out two.
Schlabach finished 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI for the Pioneers. Junior
Brittany Curry (Newark/Licking Valley) picked up the Pioneers' other RBI on a single in the sixth inning.
In the second game of the day, Hiram scored four runs in the top of the first inning and cruised to the 7-0 victory. Sophomore Meghan Garland (1-0) picked up the shutout in the circle for the Terriers allowing five hits and striking our four.
Hiram added two more runs in the fourth and one in the sixth.
Curry 2-for-4 with a pair of singles for the Pioneers.
