Muskingum took advantage of Marietta's generosity to score six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Pioneers committed three errors and walked four Muskie hitters, including three with the bases loaded as Muskingum took a 6-4 lead.

Marietta used three pitchers in the fifth inning. Sophomore Alexis O'Hair (Maumee/Maumee) started the game and worked 4.0 innings. She gave up one run on five hits with a walk and two strikeouts before leaving after allowing a lead off double in the fifth.

Freshman Trinity Schlabach (Wooster/Waynedale) finally got out of the inning and went on to pitch 2.0 innings and allow three runs on the base hits with a walk and a strikeout.

Muskingum picked up a couple of insurance runs in the sixth. Catcher Jaclynn Hess connected on a two-run home run over the left field fence for an 8-4 lead.

Senior Morgan Yackey started in the circle for the Muskies and worked 3.1 innings. Yackey surrendered four runs on four base hits. She issued three walks. Freshman Kristin Gill (2-0) got the win in relief. Gill tossed 3.2 innings without allowing a run. She gave up two hits, walked three and struck out two.

Marietta used the long ball to build a 5-2 lead in game two. Senior Trayla Liles (Tollesboro, Ky./Lewis County) led off the second inning with a home run to left field. Two batters later, Montgomery deposited a solo shot over the left field fence for a 2-0 lead.

The Pioneers added an unearned run in the fourth followed by a two-run blast from shortstop Michelle Sayre (Ripley, W.Va./Ripley) in the fifth inning.

Muskingum plated a run in each of the middle three innings cutting the Pioneer lead to 5-3. But Marietta wasn't going to let a second game slip way and answered with a three spot in the top of the sixth. Montgomery delivered once again with a two-run double.

Both teams scored a run in the seventh as Marietta claimed the 9-4 victory.

Freshman Lauren Larrick (Leesburg/Fairfield Local) (7-5) went the distance in the circle for Marietta. She worked 7.0 innings giving up four runs on 11 base hits. Larrick walked two and struck out two.
