Box Score MARIETTA, Ohio – The Marietta College women's basketball team couldn't overcome a cold shooting night as the Pioneers dropped a 66-38 decision to Baldwin Wallace University Saturday (Jan. 5). Marietta falls to 6-7 overall and 1-5 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The Yellow Jackets improve to 7-6 and 2-4 in league play. [

The Pioneers shot 28.1% (9-of-32) from the floor in the first half but trailed by just seven points, 27-20, at halftime. Baldwin Wallace pulled away in the second period as Marietta's shooting woes continued.
Marietta was 0-for-6 from three-point range in the second half and shot just 25.0% (6-of-24) from the floor. Meanwhile, the Yellow Jackets connected on five treys in the period to secure the victory.
Sophomore
Candice Alexander (Fairborn/Fairborn) was the lone Pioneer to reach double figures scoring 15 points. Alexander had three blocked shots and was one of six Marietta players to grab three rebounds in the game.
Sophomore
Lindsay Deemer (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) scored five points, while
Krissy Rowe (Toledo/Sylvania Southview),
Sierra Sigman (Chillicothe/Zane Trace) and
Shelby Maloney (Beavercreek/Beavercreek) had four points.
Senior Jessica Carpenter led Baldwin Wallace with 15 points. Sophomore Shari Mangas chipped in with 10 points. Junior Jessica Lairson pulled down a game-high seven rebounds.
Baldwin Wallace dominated the glass grabbing 53 rebounds to Marietta's 36. The Yellow Jackets turned the ball over 23 times, while the Pioneers committed 20.
For the game, Marietta shot 26.8% (15-of-56) from the floor, 12.5% (2-of-16) behind the arc and 35.3% (6-of-17) at the free throw line. Baldwin Wallace hit 25-of-60 (41.7%) from the floor, 8-of-22 (36.4%) from three-point range and 8-of-15 (53.3%) at the line.
