Box Score 2 MARIETTA, Ohio – The Marietta College softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader from Kenyon College Sunday (April 1) afternoon at Marietta Field. The Pioneers won the first game by the score of 5-1 and took the second game 8-0 in five innings. [

Marietta improves to 11-9 on the season. Kenyon drops to 10-12 overall.
The Pioneers jumped on top in the bottom of the first inning in game one. Junior second baseman
Katie Swejk (Tallmadge/Tallmadge) led off with a triple to the right-center gap and scored on a single to centerfield by freshman third baseman
Sarah Mayo (Proctorville/Chesapeake).
Marietta added a run in the third when Swejk reached on a base hit bunt and stole second. She moved to third on a ground out and scored on a wild pitch giving the Pioneers a 2-0 lead.
Kenyon put together a two-out rally in the top of the fifth. The Ladies strung together three hits including an RBI-single by left fielder Hayley Howard cutting the Pioneer lead in half, 2-1.
Freshman Alexis O'Hair (7-4) picked up the win. O'Hair pitched seven innings and allowed one run on seven hits. She walked one and struck out four.
Freshman Maddy Stark (3-8) took the loss. Stark gave up five runs, all earned, on seven hits in six innings of work. She walked three and had five strikeouts.
The Pioneers added three insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth. Junior catcher Marissa McDaniel singled, junior shortstop
Michelle Sayre (Ripley, W.Va./Ripley) walked and sophomore centerfielder
Hannah Tarski (Independence/Independence) singled to load the bases with no outs.

Chelsea Obrzut (Medina/Medina) drove in McDaniel with a sacrifice fly and junior pinch hitter
Ali Keller (Wheelersburg/Notre Dame) singled to score Sayre. The Pioneers then executed a double steal with Tarski stealing home to give the Pioneers a 5-1 lead.
Swejk went 3-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored in the opener.
In the second game, Marietta scored a run in the first, two in the second and three in the third inning en route to the 8-0 run-rule victory.
Swejk again triggered the Pioneer attack reaching on a base hit bunt to start the first inning. She later scored on a double by Sayre. Swejk went 2-for-3 in the nitecap with two runs scored and two runs batted in.
Junior left fielder
Kirstie Welch (Pickerington/North) ripped a three-run triple down the right field line in the second inning. Mayo plated Welch with a single extending the lead to 5-0.
Swejk drove in two runs in the third with a single to center. McDaniel drove in the Pioneers' final run of the game with a single through the left side of the infield that scored Swejk.
Senior
Hazel Brogdon (Chugiak, Alaska/Chugiak) (1-1) notched her first victory of the season. In the circle Brogdon pitched five innings scattering four hits. She walked one and struck out one.
Marietta banged out 12 hits in the second game. In addition to Swejk, five other Pioneers had two hits in the game. Mayo and Welch were 2-for-2, while McDaniel, Sayre and Obrzut each went 2-for-3.
Marietta travels to Granville on Wednesday (April 4) for a 5 p.m. doubleheader at Denison University.
