The Quakers took game one by a score of 7-4. Freshman Emily Estrich (Sylvania/Southview) took the loss in the first game. Fellow freshman Alexis O'Hair came in relief and went three and two-thirds innings allowing two runs on six hits with two strikeouts and two walks.

Wilmington led 5-0 through the first four innings before the Marietta offense got on the board. Sophomore Hannah Tarski (Independence/Independence) drew a bases loaded walk to get the first Pioneer run across. Junior Kirstie Welch (Pickerington/North) then slapped a single up the middle to score another run for Marietta. Freshman Brittany Curry (Newark/Licking Valley) drove in the third Pioneer score with an infield ground out.

Freshman Sarah Mayo (Proctorville/Chesapeake) drove in the last Marietta run in the sixth with a single down the right field line scoring junior Katie Swejk (Tallmadge/Tallmadge) from second.

Wilmington added two runs in the seventh and then kept the Pioneers scorless in the bottom half of the inning to take game one 7-4.

Welch and Mayo each went 2-for-3 in game one with an RBI. Mayo also scored twice. Junior Michelle Sayre (Ripley, W.Va./Ripley) went 1-for-2 while Swejk went 1-for-3.

Both teams stranded 11 base runners in the first game.

The Pioneers took a 1-0 advantage in the first inning of game two. A Sayre sacrifice fly scored Swejk who singled and stole a base earlier in the inning.

Sayre then belted a two run homerun off the left field scoreboard in the third to put Marietta ahead 3-0 through three.

Wilmington scored a run in the fourth, but Marietta answered back in the bottom of the fourth. Swejk blooped a single into center to score Allison Keller from third and put the Pioneers ahead 4-1.

Wilmington scored two in the fifth, but could not find the scoreboard again as Marieta held on to win game two 4-3.

O'Hair (5-3) went all seven innings allowing three runs, one earned, on nine hits.

Swejk went 3-for-4 in game two with an RBI and a run scored. Sayre's homerun in the third was her only hit of game two. Five other Pioneers recorded a hit in the nightcap victory.

Marietta will return to action on on Wednesday (March 28) afternoon for a non-conference matchup with state foe Wooster. Game one of the doubleheader will start at 3:30 p.m.
