The Pioneers took game one in dramatic fashion. Freshman Emily Estrich (Sylvania/Southview) pitched another good game on her part holding Washington to just one run on five hits with six strikeouts in five and two-thirds.

There were no runs scored until the top of the sixth. Washington was able to mount a two-out rally to score and take a 1-0 lead. Washington would then proceed to load the bases on Estrich. Fellow freshman Alexis O'Hair came in and shut down the Washington Rally.

Trailing 1-0 going to the seventh, the Marietta bats the finally woke up. Sophomore Hannah Tarski (Independence/Independence) led off with a single to start the rally. Junior Katie Swejk (Tallmadge/Tallmadge) belted another single moving Tarski to third. Swejk advanced to second on a fielding error by the centerfielder. A wild pitch then allowed Tarski to cross and tie the game 1-1.

Junior Allison Keller was hit by a pitch, which was followed by a Marissa McDaniel infield single. Junior Michelle Sayre (Ripley, W.Va./Ripley) belted a single to left field, scoring Swejk and giving Marietta the 2-1 victory.

Sayre finished game one going 2-for-3 with her game winning RBI. Swejk went 2-for-4 and scored the winning run.

O'Hair picked up the win in game one going one and third innings allowing no runs on one hit.

Rowan jumped ahead in the second inning of game two by scoring two runs off of two costly Marietta errors. The Profs then added three more in the sixth to push the lead to 5-0.

Marietta was unable to find the scoreboard in the nightcap as it scattered six hits while leaving five runners aboard in the loss.

O'Hair (3-3) went six innings giving up five runs (three earned) on five hits with one strikeout and three walks.

McDaniel went 2-for-2 in game two, while Tarski also collected two hits going 2-for-3 in the loss.
