Box Score MARIETTA, Ohio – The visiting Mount Union Purple Raiders, ranked seventh nationally, proved to be too much for the Marietta College women's basketball team to handle as the Pioneers fell 74-56 Wednesday (Feb. 8) night inside Ban Johnson Arena. Marietta falls to 9-13 overall and 4-11 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Mount Union is now 21-1 overall and 13-1 in the OAC. [

Marietta was led by junior post
Aleisha Guiler (Lower Salem/Monroe Central) as she recorded game-highs with 22 points and 10 rebounds. It was the fourth double-double of the season for Guiler. Sophomore guard
Tori Dixon (Londonderry/Vinton County) added seven points while freshman post
Heather Booth (Newport/Frontier) chipped in with six points and six boards.
Amanda Rose led Mount Union with 16 points, five rebounds and four assists. Kori Weidt scored 11 for the Purple Raiders while Rosa LaMattina and Erin Schmidt each scored 10 points in the win.
Mount Union started hot early and coupled with its suffocating press, put the Pioneers down from the start. The Purple Raiders forced 14 first half turnovers converting those to 15 points. Mount Union led at the half 48-24.
The Pioneers fought back in the second half, outscoring the Purple Raiders in the second stanza 32-26, but fell in the end 74-56.
Marietta finished the game shooting 38.2% (21-of-55) from the field, 25% (3-of-12) from three-point range and 78.6% (11-of-14) from the free throw line.
Mount Union shot 44.8% (30-of-67) from the field, 33.3% (7-of-21) from three-point range and 58.3% (7-of-12) from the free throw line.
The Pioneers held the edge on the boards 40-35 but committed 23 turnovers to Mount Union's 13. The Purple Raiders outscored the Pioneers 40-22 in the paint.
The Pioneers return to action for its final home game of the season when it hosts Heidelberg on Saturday (Feb. 11) afternoon. It will be Senior Day for Marietta as the Pioneers will honor seniors
