ADA, Ohio — First place Ohio Northern University swept an Ohio Athletic Conference softball doubleheader from visiting Marietta College Saturday (April 9) at the ONU Softball Field. The Pioneers fell 9-0 in game one and 10-0 in game two. [

The Polar Bears (15-7, 5-1 OAC) scored three runs in the second, two in the third and four in the fourth en route to the five-inning victory in game one.
Senior
Maureen Kertes (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) collected two of the seven hits for the Pioneers (14-9, 4-4 OAC) in the loss.
Sophomore
Chelsea Chaffin (Wheelersburg/Wheelersburg) took the loss to fall to 12-6. She allowed nine runs (seven earned) on 10 hits, walked two and fanned two in four innings.
Ohio Northern kept its offense going with four runs in the first, three in the second, one in the third and two in the fourth to win game two again in five innings.
Three different Marietta players had a hit in the second game. Junior
Hazel Brogdon (Chugiak, Alaska/Chugiak) was tagged with the loss after allowing 10 runs on 10 hits and three walks in four frames.
The Pioneers will look to bounce back at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday (April 12) when Capital University visits Marietta Field.
