MARIETTA, Ohio — Marietta College softball split an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader with visiting Baldwin-Wallace College Sunday (April 3) afternoon at Marietta Field. The Pioneers (13-6, 3-1 OAC) won game one 9-1 in six innings before having their eight-game win streak snapped with a 4-2 loss to the Yellow Jackets (10-4, 2-2 OAC) in game two. [

Sophomore
Chelsea Chaffin (Wheelersburg/Wheelersburg) improved to 12-3 by scattering one run on two hits while striking out three in the opener.
Sophomore
Trayla Liles (Tollesboro, Ky./Lewis County) started the scoring for Marietta with a RBI single in the first.
Chaffin helped her own cause when she drilled her second home run of the season in the bottom of the second. Sophomore Marissa McDaniel added a two-run single through the right side later in the inning to extend the Pioneer advantage to 4-0.

Michelle Sayre (Ripley, W.Va./Ripley) helped Marietta's lead climb to 6-0 through four innings.
Freshman
Michelle Kelley (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) drove in the seventh run with an infield single in the fifth.
Chaffin once again flirted with a no-hitter deep into the game but back-to-back one-out singles ended her bid in the sixth. A ground out by Tanya Davis followed to produce Baldwin-Wallace's first run of the day.
Liles capped the scoring with a two-run blast to left center in the sixth, giving Marietta the 9-1 victory. The home run was the fourth of the spring for Liles, who finished 3-for-4 with three RBI.
Sayre finished 3-for-3, while Swejk, Kelley, McDaniel and Chaffin all added a pair of hits in Marietta's 14-hit attack.
Sarah Baker (4-2) suffered the loss after allowing four runs on seven hits in four innings.
The Yellow Jackets captured a 1-0 advantage with two straight hits to open the second game. Ashley Elber picked up the RBI with a double. She then added another RBI single in the third to extend Baldwin-Wallace's lead to 2-0.
Marietta rallied with two outs to tie the game at 2-2 in the third. Kelley, who finished with three of her squad's seven hits, tripled and scored on a McDaniel double. Sayre then drove in McDaniel with a single.
Baldwin-Wallace regained the lead for good with a RBI double from Lauren Feciuch in the fourth and then a padded its lead, 4-2, with a RBI single by Kaity Mullen in the fifth.
Junior
Hazel Brogdon (Chugiak, Alaska/Chugiak) started game two but lasted just two-plus innings. Brogdon gave up two runs on four hits before being replaced at the center of the diamond by Chaffin. Chaffin (12-4) suffered the loss after allowing two runs on six hits over five frames.
Justina Wise earned the game-two win for Baldwin-Wallace to improve to 5-2. She scattered two runs on seven hits and struck out six in the complete-game victory.
Marietta resumes OAC play at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday (April 6) when the Pioneers host the University of Mount Union.
