The Pioneers, who entered with the top-ranked pitching staff and 17th ranked defense, improved to 15-2 by posting their sixth shutout, retiring the final 17 Presidents (4-8), not committing an error and collecting 10 hits.
Senior
John Snyder (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) delivered a two-run double to right field to give the Pioneers the advantage on the scoreboard in the top of the third. Marietta, who was aided by four President walks, then loaded the bases for sophomore
Evan Brockmeier (Marietta/Marietta), who earned a RBI after being hit by a pitch to extend the lead to 3-0.
The Etta Express broke the game open with a five-run sixth. Junior
Tim Saunders (Alliance/Alliance) had a two-run single, junior
Kirby Becker (South Euclid/St. Ignatius) a RBI single and senior
Britt Meador (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) another two-run single in the frame.
Marietta extended its lead to 9-0 when sophomore
Alex Toth (Painesville/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) hit a sacrifice fly in the seventh and 10-0 when Brockmeier drove in a run with a ground out in the ninth.

Jordan Grilliot (Brookville/Northmont) all finished with two hits, while Saunders, Snyder, Meador and Brockmeier each drove in a pair of runs.

Austin Blaski (Pandora/Gilboa) worked the first three innings, scattering two hits while striking out a pair. Sophomore
