GAMBIER, Ohio — Marietta College softball stretched its season-long win streak to seven games with a 4-0 and 8-4 sweep of non-conference host Kenyon College Sunday (March 27) afternoon. [Game 1 Box Score] [Game 2 Box Score]

Sophomore Chelsea Chaffin (Wheelersburg/Wheelersburg) notched her fourth and fifth wins of the week as the Pioneers improved to 11-3 on the year. The Ladies fell to 6-8.

Chaffin (11-3) held Kenyon to just one hit while posting one walk and eight strikeouts in the opener.

Sophomore Katie Swejk (Tallmadge/Tallmadge), who finished 2-for-3, drove in the first two runs of the game. She had a RBI ground out in the second and a RBI single in the fourth.

Sophomore Marissa McDaniel provided the insurance with a two-run double in the seventh and the Pioneers went on to win 4-0.

Freshman Michelle Kelley (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls), who went 4-for-5 with a school-record tying two triples in game two, started the scoring in the nightcap with a RBI triple in the third.

Kenyon took the lead by scoring a pair of runs against junior starter Hazel Brogdon (Chugiak, Alaska/Chugiak) in the bottom of the third.

Marietta briefly tied the game with a McDaniel double in the fifth only for the Ladies to plate two more runs versus Chaffin in the bottom of the frame to regain the advantage 4-2.

Sophomore Trayla Liles (Tollesboro, Ky./Lewis County) sparked a Pioneer rally with a lead off home run in the sixth. A second run scored on an error, before Kelley singled home two more to give Marietta a 6-4 lead.

Seniors Ashley Eberhardt (Massillon/Tuslaw) and Cassady Busellato (Hilliard/Hilliard Davidson) contributed a RBI in the seventh to extend the Pioneer advantage to 8-4. Chaffin then shut the door in the bottom of the seventh to secure the sweep.

Liles and sophomore Kirstie Welch (Pickerington/North) both finished 2-for-3 to join Kelley with multiple hits in Marietta's 12-hit attack.

Brogdon scattered two runs (one earned) on three hits and one walk over three innings in the no decision. Chaffin limited Kenyon to two runs (one earned) on five hits and struck out seven over the final four frames.

Marietta is back in action at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday (March 30) when it visits the College of Wooster for a non-conference doubleheader.
