DELAWARE, Ohio — Marietta College softball split a doubleheader with host Ohio Wesleyan University Saturday (March 19) afternoon. The Battling Bishops took the opener 6-0, while the Pioneers won the nightcap 3-2. [

Marietta (6-5) managed just two hits, both by sophomore
Katie Swejk (Tallmadge/Tallmadge), in game one.
Ohio Wesleyan (10-4), who collected 11 hits, scored three runs in the first, one in the second and two in the sixth. Four different Bishops had a pair of hits in the victory.
Sophomore
Chelsea Chaffin (Wheelersburg/Wheelersburg) took the loss after allowing six runs (five earned) on 11 and striking out six in six innings.
Both teams collected seven hits, while Ohio Wesleyan was hurt by three errors in game two.
The Pioneers took a 2-0 lead in the fourth. Swejk, who finished 2-for-3, led off with a double and later scored on an error. Sophomore
Michelle Sayre (Ripley, W.Va./Ripley) reached on the initial error and scored on another.
The Bishops tied the game when Abby Walsh hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth.
Senior
Ashley Eberhardt (Massillon/Tuslaw) broke the 2-2 tie with a single up the middle to plate Sayre in the top of the sixth.
Chaffin (6-3) bounced back to earn the win after pitching the final two and two-thirds innings. She did not allow a hit and fanned one. Junior
Hazel Brogdon (Chugiak, Alaska/Chugiak) got the start and scattered two runs on seven hits while striking out one in four and one-third innings.
Marietta is back in action at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday (March 23) when it plays host to Bethany College in a non-conference doubleheader at Marietta Field.
