Marietta out hit Wilmington 15-11 but needed a six-run seventh to secure the 14-8 victory in the opener. The host Quakers made three errors in the game one loss.

The Pioneers led 2-0 after their first at-bat, but the Quakers took the 3-2 advantage after they batted in the first frame. Marietta responded with a four-run second, while Wimington added a run of its own in the inning. The Pioneers' lead grew to four runs, 8-4, in the top of the sixth only for the Quakers to knot the game at 8-8 with a four-run bottom of the frame.

Senior catcher Katie Woolf (Louisville, Louisville) joined Swejk in finishing 3-for-5 in the game. Woolf drove in a game-high five, while Swejk scored three runs. Junior right fielder Ashley Eberhardt (Massillon, Tuslaw) and senior center fielder Maggie Daubenmire (Thornville, Lakewood Hebron) both added two hits and two RBI in the victory.

Chaffin worked the final 1 1/3 innings in relief to earn the victory and improve to 4-3. Junior starter Amanda Strong (Mineral Wells, W.Va., Parkersburg South) pitched the first 5 2/3 innings and allowed eight runs on nine hits. She walked four and fanned three in the no decision.

Chaffin (5-3) returned to the mound and threw a complete game to pick up her second victory of the day and fifth of the spring. She scattered one unearned run on four hits, walked three and struck out three in the win.

Marietta and Wilmington both scored a run in the second frame. The Pioneers broke the tie with a two-run fifth en route to the 3-1 victory. Marietta out hit Wimington 8-4 and both teams made one error in the night cap.

Swejk again paced the offense with a 3-for-4 performance, while five others had a hit in the win.
