NEW CONCORD, Ohio — The Marietta College men's basketball team suffered a 71-64 setback on the road against Muskingum University Wednesday (Feb.10) night. The loss dropped the Pioneers record to 9-13 overall and 5-10 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC). Muskingum improved to 7-15 overall and 2-13 in the league. [

With three games to play, the Pioneers, however, remain one game ahead of Otterbein for the eighth and final OAC playoff spot after the Cardinals 103-93 loss to league leading John Carroll on Wednesday. Otterbein and Marietta will meet Wednesday (Feb. 17) night in Westerville. The Pioneers won the first match-up against the Cardinals 69-55 earlier in the season at Fenton Court.

Kevin Knab (Lakewood, Lakewood) led four double-digit Pioneer scorers with 16 points and collected a game-high seven rebounds. Freshman post

Muskingum was led by Nick Hershberger with a game-high 23 points. Cory Borquin scored 20 points, while Kyle Clinedinst added 16 points and seven rebounds in the Muskie victory.
The Pioneers finished the game shooting 27-of-57 (47.4%) from the field, 9-of-20 (45.0%) from three and 1-of-3 (33.3%) from the free throw line. Muskingum finished 28-of-52 (53.8%) from the field, 5-of-14 (35.7%) from three and 10-of-16 (62.5%) from the free throw line. Both teams finished with 29 rebounds, while the Pioneers committed 12 turnovers to Muskingum's 10.
The Pioneers will return to action Saturday (Feb. 13) afternoon when they play host to Ohio Northern at 3 p.m. The Pioneers 2009-10 home finale will also be Senior Day at Ban Johnson Arena. Seniors
