Aleisha Guiler (Lower Salem, Monroe Central) set new career highs in both points and rebounds to lead the Marietta College women's basketball team to a 70-66 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) victory Wednesday (Jan. 6) night at rival Muskingum University. The win snapped a 25-game OAC losing streak for the Pioneers, who improved to 3-9, 1-4 in league play. Marietta's last OAC win also came against Muskingum, who dropped to 6-7 overall and 1-5 in the OAC. [

Guiler continued to dominate the paint in 2009-10. On Wednesday, she went 10-of-15 from the floor and 6-of-7 from the line to finish with 26 points while also adding 16 rebounds. Senior

Rachel Jones (Dublin, Coffman) both contributed 12 points in the victory.
Amanda Dobbins paced Muskingum with 19 points and 11 boards. Suzanne Nichols had 15 points, while both Rachel Buirley and Traci Alt both finished with 10 points in the loss.
Muskingum jumped out to a 10-point lead, 20-10, with 10:10 to play in the first half. Marietta cut the deficit to 1 point, 28-27, with 1:48 remaining but went into the locker room down by 4, 33-29. The game remained close throughout the first few minutes of the second period before the Muskies increased their advantage back up to 7 points, 51-44, with 12 minutes to play in the game. Heather Blair (Upper Arlington, Newark Catholic) with 6:10 on the clock. The game was locked at 66-66 with 1:34 remaining, but Guilers scored the final 4 points of the game to seal the victory.
The Pioneers shot 50% (28-of-56) from the floor and overcame 23 turnovers by out rebounding the Muskies 43-36. Muskingum shot 35.7% (25-of-70) and made 12 turnovers in the loss.
Marietta is back in action on Saturday (Jan. 9) afternoon when the Pioneers play host to Ohio Northern University. Tip-off at Ban Johnson Arena is slated for 3 p.m.
