WESTERVILLE, Ohio — Marietta College had four players named to the All-Ohio Athletic Conference Baseball team announced Monday (May 11) morning, including two first team honorees. Austin Ziance (Highland Heights, Ohio/Mayfield) and Michael Ciavolella (Tallmadge, Ohio/Archbishop Hoban) were named to the first team. Diego DeCello (Hamilton, Ohio/Badin) and Zack Molloy (Chambersburg, Pa./Saint James) earned honorable mention honors.

Ziance was placed on the All-OAC first team for a second straight season. The Pioneer pitching ace compiled a 6-4 record and was second in the OAC with a 1.91 earned run average. He pitched a total of 75.1 innings and was fifth in the OAC with 68 strikeouts. Ziance also led the conference with four complete games pitched.

"Austin is a great leader both on and off the field," said acting Marietta head baseball coach Bill Mosca. "He has a tireless work ethic and makes all those around him better. His OAC record was 5-1 with a 1.11 ERA, which was good for second place. He always pitched Game One against our OAC opponent's best pitcher."

Ciavolella earned All-OAC first team accolades for the first time. The outfielder was sixth in the conference with nine home runs and also led the team in runs batted in (33) and batting average (.360). Ciavolella proved steady in the outfield as he did not commit a single error for the Pioneers, collecting 33 putouts and an outfield assist.

"Michael had a great season in his first year wearing the pinstripes and was third in league MVP voting," said Mosca. "Michael led our team in all offensive statistical categories this spring and was huge in conference play as he carried a .415 batting average."

DeCello earned All-OAC accolades for the first time after a steady season where he was second on the team with 19 RBIs and was third with a .313 batting average. He also switched to first base early in the season and posted a very solid .983 fielding percentage.

"Diego was rock solid all season long," said Mosca. "He was third on the team in hitting and was second on the team in RBIs. Diego also played the corner infield positions at a very high level."

Molloy is also a first-time all-conference honoree. The Pioneer right fielder was second on the team with a .359 batting average, collecting two homers and 13 RBIs along the way.  He also tied for the team lead with seven stolen bases. Defensively, he played errorless baseball and led all Pioneer outfielders with four outfield assists.

"Zack stepped up and played as well as we needed him to do," said Mosca. "Zack was second on the team in hitting and played perfectly in the outfield, including throwing out four runners from his right field position."
