CRESSON, Pa. — The Marietta College women's lacrosse team got on the board quickly and kept up the pressure for the whole contest as they defeated Mount Aloysius College by the score of 17-4 Saturday (Mar. 7) afternoon. The Pioneers improve to 3-2 on the season and the Mounties fall to 2-2 overall.

Marietta got a pair of scores from
Mallory Wiles (Worthington, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) and
Molly Dickens (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) in the first period to jump out to a 4-1 lead. Two minutes into the second period,
Renee Mulvaney (Midland, Mich./Midland) took a great pass from
Lydia McCarter (Fort Mill, S.C./Catawba Ridge) and sent a shot into the net to push the lead to five. Dickens added another pair of scores and McCarter scored unassisted to give Marietta a 8-2 advantage going into halftime.
The Pioneers did not relent in the third period. Fiona Betzhold added to the totals as she scored twice in the third period. Dickens and McCarter also added another goal apiece and Marietta led 12-3 going into the fourth period. The Pioneers would tack on five more scores in the final period and cruised to a 17-4 victory.
Tessa Labrasciano (Brandon, Fla./Bloomingdale Senior) played all over 37 minutes in the net and had four saves, while giving up three goals.
Morgan Parker (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln) finished up for the Pioneers
Dickens led the way with six goals in the match and added two assists. Wiles added four goals and three assists. Betzhold scores twice, assisted on one other score, and led the team with five groundballs.
Alayna Francis (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) finished with a game-high nine draw controls and led the team with three caused turnovers.
Marietta will travel this next week to Fredericksburg, Virginia to play the first of two Spring Break games. On Wednesday (Mar. 11), the Pioneers will battle the University of Mary Washington in a match scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. On the next day (Mar. 12), they will travel to Baltimore, Maryland to battle Goucher College with the game scheduled for 4 p.m.
