WESTERVILLE, Ohio — Marietta College freshman goalkeeper Travis Lutz (Finleyville, Pa./Ringgold) earned his first career conference honor on Monday (Oct. 12) afternoon when he was selected as the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week by the league office.

Lutz secured the accolade following a stellar performance in last Saturday's 1-1 draw against Wilmington College. Although the Quakers outshot the Pioneers 23-2 and placed 11 shots on goal compared to Marietta's two, Lutz racked up 10 saves to keep the Pioneers in the contest and salvage a draw against a tough OAC opponent.

Through six starts this season, Lutz has accumulated 24 saves, averaging four stops per game to rank fourth overall in the OAC.

Currently holding a 2-5-3 overall record and a 0-1-1 mark in conference play, Marietta heads on the road next to face the University of Mount Union in a 7 p.m. OAC clash on Wednesday (Oct. 14) evening.
