MARIETTA, Ohio — Marietta College head baseball coach
Brian Brewer has announced the hiring of Lincoln Hewett as the new Pioneer's assistant coach. Hewett will serve as the team's recruiting coordinator and coach the outfielders and hitters.
"We are excited to have Lincoln join the MC Baseball family," Brewer said. "Lincoln's experiences as a player and coach, coupled with his knowledge, energy, and enthusiasm will have an immediate impact on our roster and the entire MC community."
Hewett makes the move to Marietta after a three-year stint as an assistant coach at NCAA Division I Elon University. He worked primarily as a hitting instructor but worked with the team's outfielders and served as the first base coach. Under his guidance, the Phoenix put together some of their best seasons, collecting high win totals and producing several players that achieved post season accolades.
Prior to Elon, Hewett spent a season as assistant coach at his alma mater Greensboro College and three years at Pfeiffer University, both NCAA Division III institutions.
Hewett also has some experience coaching at the Minor League level as he served as the hitting instructor for the High Point-Thomasville HiToms of the Coastal Plain League.
Hewett began his college playing career at South Georgia State College but then transferred to Greensboro College where he earned ABCA/Rawlings All-South Region third-team honors as a senior. In his senior season, Hewett recorded a .335 batting average and led his team with 48 runs batted in.
Originally from Gainesville, Georgia, Hewett earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Greensboro College in 2019. He is currently working on a master's degree in sport management from the University of Florida.
