Women finish eighth, men ninth at OAC Outdoor Track Championship

WILMINGTON, Ohio — The Marietta College men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up competition in the Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships hosted by Wilmington College Friday (May 2) evening. The Pioneers women finished eighth, while the men placed ninth.
 
Sage Landis (Friendly, W.Va./) led the Pioneers on day two of the championships with a second-place finish in the men's pole vault. Sandis cleared a height of 4.63 meters (15' 2.25") earning All-OAC honors and eight points in the team standings.
 
Cael McCutcheon (Point Pleasant, W.Va./Point Pleasant) earned one team point with his eighth place showing in the pole vault. He cleared a height of 4.33 meters (14' 2.5").
 
Marietta other six points came in the 4x100-meter relay. The Pioneers earned All-OAC honors with a third-place finish. Vante' Hodges (Horn Lake, Miss./Horn Lake) ran the lead leg, followed by Isaiah Mitchell (Hebron, Ohio/Lakewood), Taz Morris (Tampa, Fla./Wharton), and Matthew Siegler (Hamilton, Ohio/Badin) on the anchor finishing with a time of 42.43 seconds.
 
Michaela Hieronymus (Letart, W.Va./Wahama) and Emma Fehrman (Newark, Ohio/Licking Valley) led the Pioneer women on day two. Hieronymus set a new personal record in the 800-meter dash finishing fifth with a time of 2:18.31; good for four team points. Fehrman earned three points with a sixth place showing in the 400-meter dash. Fehrman posted a time of 57.87 seconds.
 
Marietta's final team point came in the 4x400-meter relay. The Pioneers finished eighth with a time of 4:10.63. Fehrman ran the lead leg, followed by Hieronymus, Lillian Franchino (Waterford, Ohio/), and Eden Tepe (Oregonia, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) on the anchor leg.
 
Mount Union won the men's team championship with 210 total points. Baldwin Wallace was second with 143 points, followed by John Carroll (135 points), Wilmington (114), Ohio, Northern (83), Otterbein (61), Capital (24), Muskingum (24), Marietta (16), and Heidelberg (7).
 
Ohio Northern won the women's team title with 213 points. Mount Union was second with 196.25 points, followed by John Carroll (163.25), Baldwin Wallace (86.25), Wilmington (54), Otterbein (50), Heidelberg (22), Marietta (20), Muskingum (12), and Capital (0.25).
 
Marietta will compete in the Baldwin Wallace Harrison Dillard Twilight meet on Friday (May 9). Events start at 1:00 p.m.
