Track and Field competes at the Marv Frye Invitational

DELAWARE, Ohio — The Marietta College men's and women's track and field team competed in the Marv Frye Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University Saturday (April 5) afternoon. The Pioneer women placed eighth, while the men finished tenth.

Ohio Wesleyan won the women's team title with 207 total points. Baldwin Wallace was second with 155.5 points, followed by West Liberty (101 points), Kenyon (65), Hiram (55), Albion (48), Muskingum (48), Marietta (23), Ohio Christian (18), and Capital (1.5).

Two Pioneers won events for the women. Eden Tepe (Oregonia, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) and Elizabeth Schnegg (Clarington, Ohio/St. John Central) both set new personal records in their respective event wins. Tepe cleared a height of 3.20 meters (10' 6") to win the pole vault and Schnegg won the javelin with a throw of 32.08 meters (105' 3").

Marietta's other team points came from Michaela Hieronymus (Letart, W.Va./Wahama) in the 400-meter dash. She posted a time of 1:01.42 to place sixth. Hieronymus also set a new personal best in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:09.22.

Several other Pioneers set personal records in the meet including Ashley ward in the 100-meter dash (15.96 seconds) and the 200-meter dash (33.46 seconds); Audrey Helmick (Berkeley Springs, W.Va./Berkeley Springs) in the 800-meter run (2:36.72) and the 1,500-meter run (5:25.43); Emily Randulic (Quaker City, Ohio/Buckeye Trail) in the 400-meter dash (1:08.17); and Emily Comiskey (Shirley, N.Y./Longwood) in the discus throw (16.94 meters/55' 7").

Baldwin Wallace won the men's team title with 260 points. Ohio Wesleyan finished second with 110.5 points, followed by Albion (85 points), West Liberty (78.5), Muskingum (48), Kenyon (41), Hiram (32), Ohio Christian (29), Capital (21), and Marietta (13).

Sage Landis (Friendly, W.Va./) led the Pioneer men with a victory in the pole vault. He cleared a height of 4.50 meters (14' 9"). Ryan House (New Concord, Ohio/John Glenn) placed sixth in the javelin with a mark of 40.52 meters (132' 11").

Pioneers with personal record performances in the meet included Luke Price (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg) in the 400-meter hurdles (1:00.33) and the long jump (5.35 meters/17' 6.75"); Franko Rome (Cambridge, Ohio/Buckeye Trail) in the 400-meter dash (54.79 seconds) and the 1,500-meter run (4:17.64); Brendon Thompson in the 800-meter run (2:22.21) and the 1,500-meter run (4:53.23); Taz Morris in the 100-meter dash (11.95 seconds), Logan Falls (Parkersburg, W.Va./) (26.96 seconds) and Cooper Warren (Logan, Ohio/) (24.94 seconds in the 200-meter dash; Kevin Hernandez (Plymouth, Ohio/Willard) (4:36.25), Aiden Keener (Orrville, Ohio/Smithville) (4:47.93) and Max King (Granville, Ohio/Granville) (4:32.30) in the 1,500-meter run; Evan Fee (Newark, Ohio/Licking Valley) in the hammer throw (40.34 meter/132' 4"); and Andrew Franchini (Lancaster, Ohio/Lancaster) in the discus (31.01 meters/101' 9").

Marietta is back in action next Saturday (April 12) at the All-Ohio Championships being hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.
