Track competes at Jud Logan Light Giver Open

ASHLAND, Ohio — The Marietta College men's and women's track and field team competed in the Ashland University Jud Logan Light Giver Open Friday and Saturday (Feb. 7-8).
 
Sage Landis (Friendly, W.Va./) turned in Marietta's bet finish placing fifth in the men's pole vault. Landis cleared a personal record height of 4.45 meters (14' 7.25"). Cael McCutcheon (Point Pleasant, W.Va./Point Pleasant) placed tenth with a height of 4.30 meters (14' 1.25").
 
Gunner Fertig (Eleanor, W.Va./) placed 20th in the men's heptathlon with a personal record score of 3737 points. He also set personal bests in the 60-meter dash (7.88 seconds), long jump (5.40 meters – 17' 8.75"), shot put (9.39 meters – 30' 9.75"), and the 1000-meter run (3:22.17).
 
Brendon Thompson set a pair of personal records in the 60-meter dash (8.20 seconds) and the 200-meter dash (27.10 seconds). Evan Fee (Newark, Ohio/Licking Valley) had a personal best in the shot put (11.45 meters – 37' 6.75"), while Charles Putnam (Marietta, Ohio/) had a personal record time of 16:12.01 in the 5000-meter run.
 
Lillian Franchino (Waterford, Ohio/) set two personal records with a time of 9.41 seconds in the 60-meter dash and 31.97 seconds in the 200-meter dash. Sadie Gray (Whipple, Ohio/) also finished the 60m in 8.15 seconds setting a personal record, while Emily Comiskey (Shirley, N.Y./Longwood) had a personal best in the shot put with a distance of 6.02 meters (19' 9.5").
 
Marietta is back in action at the All-Ohio Championships being hosted by Otterbein University on Saturday (Feb. 15).
