WESTERVILLE, Ohio — The Marietta College men's and women's track and field team competed in the All-Ohio Championship Saturday (Feb. 15) afternoon at Otterbein University. The Pioneer women placed ninth, while the men finished 14th.
Mount Union won the women's team title with 108.5 total points. Ohio Wesleyan was second with 89 points, followed by Case Western (77 points), Baldwin Wallace (69), John Carroll (63), Ohio Northern (60), Kenyon (44), Denison (27), Marietta (24), Heidelberg (21), Wooster (20), Oberlin (19), Otterbein (17), Muskingum (16), and Hiram (7.5).
Emily Thompson (St. Clairsville, Ohio/St. Clairsville) led Marietta with a first-place finish in the women's pole vault. Thompson cleared a height of 3.78 meters (14' 4.75").
Emma Fehrman (Newark, Ohio/Licking Valley) and
Isabelle Poling (Lancaster, Ohio/Bloom Carroll) also scored points for the Pioneers. Fehrman placed second in the triple jump with a mark of 10.68 meters (35' 0.5"), while Poling was third in the 5000-meter run with a time of 19:42.84.
Fehrman also competed in the long jump and finished 15th with a distance of 4.61 meters (15' 1.5").
Michaela Hieronymus (Letart, W.Va./Wahama) finished ninth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:25.87, while
Sadie Gray (Whipple, Ohio/) set a new personal record in the 60-meter dash prelims with a time of 8.13 seconds.
Mount Union also won the men's team title recording 124 total points. Baldwin Wallace took second with 75 points, followed by Denison (66 points), Ohio Northern (60.5), Case Western (57), Otterbein (41.5), John Carroll (39), Ohio Wesleyan (38), Wooster (32), Kenyon (27), Muskingum (22), Capital (21), Oberlin (21), Marietta (15), Hiram (12), and Mount St. Joseph (11).
Marietta's pole vault tandem of
Cael McCutcheon (Point Pleasant, W.Va./Point Pleasant) and
Sage Landis (Friendly, W.Va./) accounted for most Marietta's points. McCutcheon placed second clearing 4.51 meters (14' 9.5"), equaling his personal record mark. Landis finished third with a height of 4.41 meters (14' 5.5").
The Pioneers picked up one point with an eighth-place finish in the 4x200-meter relay. Marietta posted a time of 1:34.71.
Vante' Hodges (Horn Lake, Miss./Horn Lake) ran the lead leg, followed
Matthew Siegler (Hamilton, Ohio/Badin),
Isaiah Mitchell (Hebron, Ohio/Lakewood), and Landis on the anchor leg.
The Pioneers are back in action next Saturday (Feb. 22) at the Ashland University Last Chance Meet.
