YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — The Men's and Women's Track and Field teams competed at the Youngstown State Mid Major Invitational on Friday and Saturday (Jan. 31-Feb. 1). The Pioneers pole vaulters competed Muskingum University's Muskie #3 Meet on Saturday.
Marietta swept the two pole vault competitions.
Cael McCutcheon (Point Pleasant, W.Va./Point Pleasant) won the men's title with a personal record height of 4.51 meters (14' 9.5"), while
Cooper Warren (Logan, Ohio/) placed fourth with a height of 3.50 meters (11' 5.75").
Emily Thompson (St. Clairsville, Ohio/St. Clairsville) won the women's title clearing 3.55 meters (11' 7.75").
Eden Tepe (Oregonia, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) placed eighth with a personal record height of 2.65 meters (8' 8.25").
The Pioneers had four top 10 finishes at Youngstown State.
Michaela Hieronymus (Letart, W.Va./Wahama) finished third in the 500-meter dash with a personal record time of 1:21.39.
Audrey Helmick (Berkeley Springs, W.Va./Berkeley Springs) had a pair of personal bests finishing eighth in the 1000-meter run with a time of 3:21.31 to go along with her time of 5:44.04 in the mile run.
Max King (Granville, Ohio/Granville) and
Franko Rome (Cambridge, Ohio/Buckeye Trail) finished ninth and tenth, respectively, in the men's 500-meter dash. Both set personal records in the event. King crossed in 1:09.43, while Franko posted a time of 1:09.83. King also set a new personal best in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:12.19.
Gunner Fertig (Eleanor, W.Va./) posted a pair of personal bests. Fertig posted a time of 25.70 seconds in the 200-meter dash and finish the 60-meter hurdles in 9.33 seconds.
Luke Price (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg) finished in 1:14.44 in the 500m for a new personal record, while
Aiden Keener (Orrville, Ohio/Smithville) crossed the line in 2:15.95 in the 800m, also a personal best. The Pioneer men's final personal record showing came from
Ryan House (New Concord, Ohio/John Glenn) in the weight throw with a heave of 12.38 meters (40' 7.5").
Annabel Malone (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North) and
Isabelle Poling (Lancaster, Ohio/Bloom Carroll) set new personal records in the women's mile run. Malone finished in 5:49.97, while Poling crossed in 5:51.85.
Marietta is back in action next Friday and Saturday (Feb. 7-8) at the Ashland University Jud Logan Light Giver Open.
