WESTERVILLE, Ohio — Senior
Jake Singleton (Senecaville, Ohio/Meadowbrook) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week Monday (Nov. 10) afternoon by the league office.
Singleton was named the Most Valuable Player of the Ursinus Bear Bash Tip-Off Tournament last weekend, averaging 26.5 points and four rebounds per game in Marietta's two wins. He scored a career high 35 points, including 7 three-pointers, in the championship game win over host Ursinus. He scored 18 points in the first-round win over Misericordia.
In addition, he added four assists and four steals, while shooting 54.5% (18-of-33) from the floor, 40.9% (9-of-22) from three-point range, and 100% (8-of-8) from the free throw line.
The Pioneers are currently 2-0 on the season and will host the 54th Shrine Tournament this weekend. Marietta will open with La Roche University on Friday (Nov. 14) at 8 p.m., following a matchup between Manchester University and California Lutheran University. Both losing teams on Friday will play a consolation game on Saturday (Nov. 15) at 6 p.m. and the other two teams will play for the Shrine trophy at 8 p.m.
