WESTERVILLE, Ohio — Marietta College senior linebacker
Harley Hopkins (Zanesville, Ohio/West Muskingum) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week Monday (Oct. 13) afternoon by the league office. Hopkins earned his second weekly award after a strong performance against Heidelberg on Saturday.
Hopkins led the Pioneer defense with 11 tackles (four solo and seven assisted). He also registered 1.5 tackles for loss, including 1.0 sack. Hopkins also forced a fumble and had a pair of pass break-ups.
Hopkins is second in the OAC in tackles, averaging 9.8 tackles per game. He also ranks among the league leaders in sacks with 2.0 on the season.
The Pioneers return to action this Saturday (Oct. 18) as they will be celebrating Homecoming. Marietta welcomes Muskingum University for the annual battle for the Shrine Trophy. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
