TIFFIN, Ohio – The Marietta College men's lacrosse team earned their consecutive conference victory with a 15-4 road win over Heidelberg University on Saturday (April 6) afternoon. With the win the Pioneers improve to 6-5 overall and 3-1 in Ohio Athletic Conference play, and with the loss the Student Princes fall to 4-9 overall and 1-3 in the OAC.
Heidelberg opened the scoring with a pair scores four minutes into the match, but
Tyler Reich (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin) got the Pioneers on the board with a score at the 10:23 mark to cut the lead in half. After another Student Prince score, Reich found the net again with less than three minutes left Pioneers entered the second quarter behind 3-2.
Marietta shut down the Student Princes and kept them off the board in the second quarter, all the while keeping up the attack of their own. Nate
Neal scored from a great pass from
Thomas Zerman (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville South) to the tie the score at three at the 10:14 mark. The Pioneers would go on to blast six more scores in for the remainder of the half, including three goals from
Josh Walters (Cleves, Ohio/Taylor), and took a 9-3 lead at the intermission.
The Pioneers got a pair of scores from Reich in the third period which extended the lead to 12-3 after three periods. Reich scored another pair in the fourth and the Student Princes could not overcome the difference. The Pioneers would cruise to a 15-4 conference victory.

Millard played the first half and was credited with the victory. He faced 13 shots, 7 of which were on goal, and made four saves.
James Cipollone (Forest Hill, Md./Calvert Hall) played the second half and preserved the victory as he faced 22 shots, nine of which were on goal shots on goal, and made eight saves.
Reich was the third Pioneer to reach eight goals in a match this season, leading the team in goals for the afternoon. Walters finished with three goals. Franklin assisted on a school record eight goals for the day. Neal was 15-17 in the faceoff and picked up a team high 15 groundballs. Defensively,
Carson Meckler (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) led with three caused turnovers.
Marietta will return to the field Wednesday (April 10) when they travel to play Muskingum University, with the game scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
