MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College women's rowing team hosted the University of Dayton and Mercyhurst University Saturday (Mar. 23) afternoon on the Muskingum River.
"We knew entering the race that this would be an early challenge for us, racing up in division, but our women raced strong pieces across all three boats," Marietta head coach
Annie Devorak said. "I'm really happy with how we handled some windy, fast conditions. We're looking forward to another great challenge next weekend at Ithaca."
The varsity 8+ crews were first on the water. Mercyhurst won the race with a time of 6:34.6. Dayton's two crews were second and third. Dayton A finished in 6:43.9 with their B shell crossing the line in 6:54.0. Marietta was close behind with a time of 6:58.0.
Dayton won the varsity 4+ race with a time of 7:17.4. Mercyhurst finished second finishing in 7:22.4. Dayton B (7:23.3) and Marietta (7:28.1) were third and fourth.
In the second varsity + race, Dayton was first across the line with a time of 7:48.3. Marietta placed second finishing in 7:53.7 with Dayton B far behind with a time of 8:10.1.
Marietta competes in the Cayuga Duals hosted by Ithaca College next Saturday (Mar. 30).
