MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College women's rowing team opened the 2024 race season at home against Adrian College Saturday (Mar. 16) on the Muskingum River.
"Today was a great day of racing. We were lucky to have the opportunity to see some intraconference competition early in the season," Marietta head coach
Annie Devorak said. "Adrian has historically had a fast Varsity 4+ so it was great to get to race our 8 against theirs. All three of our boats had a competitive day of racing for this early in the season. We're looking forward to hosting the University of Dayton next weekend."
Marietta won the varsity 8+ race with open water on Adrian. The Pioneers crossed he line in 6:39.8, way ahead of Adrian who finished in 7:09.6.
In the varsity 4+ race, the Pioneers had two of the top three finishes. The Marietta A boat won the race with a time of 7:11.9, followed by Adrian A (7:19.6), Marietta B (7:36.2), and Adrian B (8:05.3).
Marietta hosts the University of Dayton next Saturday (Mar. 23).
