Marietta and Illinois State battle to 3-3 draw

PANAMA CITY, Fla. — Marietta College and Illinois State played to a 3-3 tie on Friday, March 14, as the game reached its time limit after eight innings of closely contested baseball. The result moved Marietta's record to 9-3-2 on its Florida trip.
 
Sean Risley continued his hot streak at the plate, going 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Risley's consistent performance has been a key factor in Marietta's offensive success throughout the trip.
 
Roger Thompson provided some pop for the Pioneers, smacking a double and driving in two runs. Frank Schossler also contributed a double, adding to Marietta's extra-base hit total for the game.
 
On the mound, Jim Katschke turned in a strong performance for Marietta. Katschke went the distance, tossing all eight innings while allowing just six hits and striking out two. His efforts kept the Pioneers in the game throughout the contest.
 
For Illinois State, Dave Wyss made the most of his opportunities, recording a single and a sacrifice fly that led to two RBI. Chris Gurchiek and Aaron Eberlin each collected two hits for the Redbirds, helping to keep the game close.
