MARIETTA, Ohio —
Angelene Kontul (Solon, Ohio/Solon) scored the lone goal of the match as Marietta College defeated Otterbein University, 1-0, Wednesday (Oct. 9) evening in Ohio Athletic Conference women's soccer action. The Pioneers improve to 5-4-2 overall and 1-1-0 in the OAC. Otterbein falls to 6-3-2 and 1-1-0 in the OAC.

Zack Votra said "We knocked off a very good Otterbein team that we haven't beaten since 1998."
Kontul demonstrated the strength in her legs scoring from nearly 40-yards out in the 33rd minute. Her shot dipped under the bar for her 11th goal of the season. Kontul currently leads the OAC in goals (11) and points (23). Her 11 gals are the most scored by a Pioneer since Dawn Karbler scored 11 in 1996.
Marietta's defense totally frustrated the Cardinal strikers.
Ryah Haidar (Sylvania, Ohio/Sylvania Southview),
Lydia Vach (Maineville, Ohio/Little Miami),
Emmah Kronenbitter (Zanesville, Ohio/Zanesville),
Demi Mills (Batavia, Ohio/West Clermont), and
Izzy Hank (North Olmsted, Ohio/Holy Name) shut down the Otterbein attack.
Sarah Legg (Edgewood, Ky./Dixie Heights) went the distance in goal recording five saves and the clean sheet.
Marietta hosts Heidelberg University on Saturday (Oct. 12) for a 2:00 p.m. match. It will be Senior Day for the Pioneers
