WESTERVILLE, Ohio — The Marietta College men's soccer team lost an Ohio Athletic Conference match at Otterbein University by the score of 4-0 Wednesday (Oct. 9) evening. The loss drops Marietta to 3-7-1 overall and 0-2-0 in the OAC. Otterbein improves to 5-4-2 and 1-1-0 in the OAC.
Nick Isaac scored a pair of goals in the first half as the Cardinals built a 3-0 lead before halftime. Isaac opened the scoring with an unassisted goal in the seventh minute. He then picked up an assist on a goal by Carter Ely in the 20th minute. Isaac closed out the first half scoring with another unassisted goal in the 24th minute.
Isaac continued his offensive prowess in the second half assisting on Otterbein's final goal of the match. Silver Abraham scored in the 69th minute with assists from Isaac and Carter.
Joey Backhaus (Canfield, Ohio/Canfield) started in goal for the Pioneers and recorded seven saves in 73 minutes of playing time.
Andrew Stein (Wilmington, N.C./Hoggard) played the final 17 minutes and posted one save. Jason Villalobos went the distance in goal for Otterbein making three saves and recording the clean sheet.
Marietta travels to Heidelberg University on Saturday (Oct. 12) for a 2:00 p.m. match.
