Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer ties Capital 0-0

BEXLEY, Ohio — Marietta College and Capital University battled to a scoreless tie Wednesday (Oct. 16) evening in Ohio Athletic Conference women's soccer action. The Pioneers move to 5-5-3 overall and 1-2-1 in the OAC. Capital is 3-7-3 on the season and 1-1-2 in the OAC.

Scoring opportunities were tough to come by as both defenses were at the top of their game. Capital fired off 16 shots in the match, but only seven were on goal. The Pioneers were limited to six total shots and only two on goal.

Maisee Carrier (Fairview, Pa./Fairview) went the distance in goal for the Pioneers and recorded seven saves while posting her third shutout of the season. Liv Alford notched three saves for the Comets and recorded her third shutout of the fall campaign.

Emmah Kronenbitter (Zanesville, Ohio/Zanesville) and Izzy Hank (North Olmsted, Ohio/Holy Name) played all 90 minutes on the Marietta back line. Lydia Vach (Maineville, Ohio/Little Miami), Ryah Haidar (Sylvania, Ohio/Sylvania Southview) and Eden Tepe (Oregonia, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) helped anchor the Pioneer defensive effort.

Capital limited Angelene Kontul (Solon, Ohio/Solon), the OAC's leading scorer, to just three shots in the game. Kronenbitter and Emma Egli (Homeworth, Ohio/West Branch) each had one shot on goal for the Pioneers.

Marietta hosts John Carroll University on Saturday (Oct. 19) at 1:00 p.m.
