CHERRY HILL, New Jersey — The Marietta College women's rowing team won the Dad Vail bronze medal in the Division III Varsity Eight race Saturday (May 13) afternoon.

"We did a great job applying the lessons learned in previous races this season. We knew it would be a tight race for third place," Marietta head coach Abby Lord said. "We executed our race plan with intention and made a gutsy move with 500 meters to go to come out with the bronze. I'm proud of the progress we have made this season."

Stockton won the gold medal finishing with open water on the rest of the field. The Ospreys crossed the line in 7:08.807, 15 seconds ahead of silver medalist, Bryn Mawr (7:23.877).

The race for third was close throughout the course. Marietta edged the Milwaukee School of Engineering at the line claiming the bronze medal. The Pioneers finished in 7:32.873 with MSOE less than a second behind (7:33.673).

Simmons (7:39.487) and Catholic (8:14.198) rounded out the field.

Marietta's lineup included coxswain: Michaela Donnelly (Philadelphia, Pa./Science Leadership Academy), stroke: Katie Lively (New Matamoras, Ohio/River), 7: Madison Jennings (Raleigh, N.C./Longleaf School of the Arts), 6: Ashley Laing (Virginia Beach, Va./Catholic), 5: Emily Comiskey (Shirley, N.Y./Longwood), 4: Jade Poling (Vienna, W.Va.), 3: Morgan Szucs (Woodhaven, Mich./Carlson), 2: Morgan Ahlstrom (Satellite Beach, Fla./Lake Braddock), and Johannah James (Folsom, Calif./Folsom) in the bow.

The Pioneers completed their season at the annual Dad Vail Regatta.
