WESTERVILLE, Ohio — The Marietta College men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision at Otterbein University Friday (April 7). The Pioneers move to 3-10 on the season and 0-5 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Otterbein improves to 10-4 overall and 2-0 in the OAC.
The Cardinals led 3-0 after doubles. In the top spot, Brandon Wall and Jamie Price beat
Evan Barker (Washington, W.Va./Parkersburg South) and
Elijah Kuhl (Marietta, Ohio/Wood County Christian (W.Va.)), 8-0. Joshua Mammen and Jake McDivitt downed
Spencer Hall (Louisville, Ohio/Louisville) and
Elivh Perez (Mexico City, Mexico/Preparatoria Abierta) at No. 2, 8-0, while Will Newberry and Dylan Shook topped
George Fazah (Beirut, Lebanon/Adma International School) and
David Frazier (Louisville, Ohio/Louisville) at No. 3 by the same score.
Wall blanked Perez at No. 1 singles, 6-0 and 6-0. Mammen downed Kuhl at No. 2, 6-0 and 6-0. In the No. 3 match, Barker fell to McDivitt, 6-0 and 6-2.
Price edged Hall at No. 4, 6-3 and 6-3. Newberry beat Frazier and Boban Mihajlov beat Fazah at Nos. 5 and 6, respectively. Both were by the same 6-0, 6-0 scores.
Marietta plays at John Carroll on Saturday (April 15) at 1:00 p.m.
