Thursday, March 30th, 2023 — Super Smash Bros. vs. Quinnipiac University (NACE Post-Season)

Game 1: The Super Smash Bros. team would start its NACE post-season run on Thursday against Quinnipiac University. Marietta's first choice of fighters would be Peyton Engel (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington Central) as Corrin facing off against Quinnipiac's choice of Corrin as well. Unfortunately, Peyton would be beaten by her twin while only taking one stock for herself. The Pioneers would then send out captain Mason Rice (Marietta, Ohio/Parkersburg South (W.Va.)) to try and dispatch the Corrin as Donkey Kong, which she was successful in doing while only losing one stock. Next up for Quinnipiac would be Sonic the Hedgehog who was able to very quickly eliminate all of DK's stocks. Ryan Boggs (Marietta, Ohio/) would be Marietta's next choice, choosing to fight as Lucina. Ryan unfortunately would have all three of his stocks eliminated without taking one for himself. Finally, the Pioneers would send out Zac Lane (Stratford, N.J./Buena Regional) on his signature Little Mac to try and defeat the Sonic. Unfortunately for him, he would only be able to successfully eliminate one stock from Sonic before losing all of his. (0-8, Quinnipiac Win)

Game 2: The Pioneers would choose to send out captain Mason Rice (Marietta, Ohio/Parkersburg South (W.Va.)) as Donkey Kong for game two, where he would face off against Quinnipiac's choice of Sephiroth. Mason was able to eliminate the Sephiroth while only losing two stocks. He would then be eliminated by Quinnipiac's next choice, Lucas. Up next, Marietta's Kenzie McDonald would try their hand with Min Min. Unfortunately for Kenzie, they would be swiftly eliminated by Lucas without taking any stocks for themselves. Peyton Engel (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington Central) would step up to the plate next as Corrin and would meet a similar fate as Kenzie, losing all three of her stocks while only securing one for herself. Finally, in the anchor position, Zac Lane (Stratford, N.J./Buena Regional) as Little Mac would be able to eliminate one stock from Lucas before being eliminated himself. (0-7, Quinnipiac Win)

Game 1: Marietta College's Super Smash Bros. team finished out their GLEC season against Manchester University this Saturday. Their first fighter, Peyton Engel (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington Central) would face off against Young Link with her signature choice of Corrin. Peyton was unable to proceed to the next fighter as Young Link eliminated all three of her stocks and only lost one. Zac Lane (Stratford, N.J./Buena Regional) would be next up for the Pioneers with his choice of Little Mac. Zac was able to eliminate Young Link but lost two stocks in the process. Manchester would then send out their choice of Little Mac who unfortunately eliminated Zac's one remaining stock. Captain Mason Rice (Marietta, Ohio/Parkersburg South (W.Va.)) would be the team's anchor this game with his choice of Donkey Kong. Mason would be successful in eliminating the Little Mac but took heavy damage while doing so, losing two stocks. Finally, Mason would face off against Manchester's choice of Banjo-Kazooie. Mason was able to eliminate a single stock from Banjo before being eliminated. (0-2, Manchester Win)

Game 2: For game two, the Pioneers would send out Peyton Engel (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington Central) as Corrin first where she would face off against Manchester's choice of the Mii Sword Fighter. Unfortunately, not only was the Mii Sword fighter able to eliminate three stocks from Peyton without losing a single one, they did it to Marietta's next choice, captain Mason Rice (Marietta, Ohio/Parkersburg South (W.Va.)) and his Donkey Kong as well. Zac Lane (Stratford, N.J./Buena Regional) was however able to eliminate one stock off of the Mii Sword Fighter with Little Mac before being eliminated himself. (0-8, Manchester Win)
Final Score: 0-2, Loss

Saturday, April 1st, 2023 — Overwatch vs. Baldwin Wallace University (GLEC Week 9)

Game 1: (Lijiang Tower – Control) The Pioneers' Overwatch team would conclude their GLEC season this Saturday against Baldwin Wallace University. Starting out on Lijiang Towers' Night Market, the Pioneers would come out with Baili Matheny (Little Hocking, Ohio/Warren Local) on Wrecking Ball, Austin Amash (Marietta, Ohio/Marietta) on Sombra, Jeffrey Dolby (Glenford, Ohio/Sheridan) on Cassidy, Eric Schnegg (Clarington, Ohio/St. John Central) on Kiriko, and captain Corey McFann (South Webster, Ohio/) on Lucio. The first pick and control point capture would go to the Pioneers and Jeffrey Dolby (Glenford, Ohio/Sheridan) would make an insane play to secure the round 100%-42%. Round two would be at the Control Center where the Pioneers would fall to Baldwin Wallace 30%-100%. Round three would not fare much better for the Pioneers as they would drop the Gardens map to a tune of 64%-100%. (1-3, BW Win)

Game 2: (King's Row – Hybrid) For round two, the Pioneers would start on the attacking side of play. Their composition of Baili Matheny (Little Hocking, Ohio/Warren Local) on Reinhardt, Austin Amash (Marietta, Ohio/Marietta) on Soldier:76, Jeffrey Dolby (Glenford, Ohio/Sheridan) on Cassidy, Corey McFann (South Webster, Ohio/) on Lucio, and Eric Schnegg (Clarington, Ohio/St. John Central) on Kiriko would be successful in capturing the payload and escorting it through all the necessary checkpoints, although the round would end in overtime. The defensive side of play was nearly successful in staving off Baldwin Wallace from securing the payload, however they would overcome the Pioneers defense and ultimately secure all 3 checkpoints as well with over 1:00 in the time bank. Marietta would then start the overtime round on defense where they would have to stop BW from capturing 33% of the payload for fear of losing the round. The Pioneers were successful in doing so, resulting in a draw for game two. (Draw)

Game 3: (Havana – Escort) Game three would be played on Havana and the Pioneers would start off on the attacking side of play. Their composition consisted of Baili Matheny (Little Hocking, Ohio/Warren Local) on Sigma, Austin Amash (Marietta, Ohio/Marietta) on Ashe, Jeffrey Dolby (Glenford, Ohio/Sheridan) on Hanzo, Eric Schnegg (Clarington, Ohio/St. John Central) on Kiriko, and Corey McFann (South Webster, Ohio/) on Zenyatta. Marietta would be successful in escorting the payload through all three checkpoints but would not complete the third in regulation time, rather, doing so in overtime. For their defense, the Pioneers would swap Austin Amash (Marietta, Ohio/Marietta) to Sombra. Baldwin Wallace was only able to push the payload 65.15m into the third checkpoint, resulting in a game three victory for the Pioneers. (3-2, Marietta Win)

Game 4: (Colosseo – Push) For Colosseo, Marietta would be running Baili Matheny (Little Hocking, Ohio/Warren Local) on Winston, Austin Amash (Marietta, Ohio/Marietta) on Ashe, Jeffrey Dolby (Glenford, Ohio/Sheridan) on Genji, Corey McFann (South Webster, Ohio/) on Lucio, and Eric Schnegg (Clarington, Ohio/St. John Central) on Kiriko. The Pioneers would remain dominate throughout the map and would ultimately walk away with the win after pushing the cart a total of 121.66m compared to Baldwin Wallace's 60.18m. (1-0, Marietta Win)

Game 5: (Ilios – Control) Entering match point, and with the game on the line, the Pioneers knew what needed to be done in order to walk away with the win. For game five, the Pioneers would start on Ilios' Lighthouse with a composition of Baili Matheny (Little Hocking, Ohio/Warren Local) on Wrecking Ball, Austin Amash (Marietta, Ohio/Marietta) on Mei, Jeffrey Dolby (Glenford, Ohio/Sheridan) on Cassidy, Corey McFann (South Webster, Ohio/) on Lucio, and Eric Schnegg (Clarington, Ohio/St. John Central) on Kiriko. Marietta would be successful in capturing the point first, although the point would be flipped multiple times, the Pioneers would win round one with a score of 100%-93%. Game set and match approaching, the Pioneers would be heading to Ilios' Well. Austin Amash (Marietta, Ohio/Marietta) would swap his character to Soldier:76 to try and produce more damage output. Baldwin Wallace would capture the point first, but the Pioneers would flip it into their favor and retain that control for the rest of the game, securing the map and match victory with a round two score of 100%-38%. (2-0, Marietta Win)
Final Score: 3-1, Win
