MEDINA, Ohio — Baldwin Wallace defeated Marietta College by the score of 9-0 in men's tennis Saturday (April 1) afternoon. The Pioneers fall to 3-8 on the season and 0-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Baldwin Wallace improves to 13-0 overall and 1-0 in the OAC.
Baldwin Wallace swept the doubles matches for an early 3-0 lead. The best match of the day came at No. 1 doubles where Matt McGee and Trey Kernan edged
Evan Barker (Washington, W.Va./Parkersburg South) and
Elijah Kuhl (Marietta, Ohio/Wood County Christian (W.Va.)), 8-4.
In the No. 2 match,
Spencer Hall (Louisville, Ohio/Louisville) and
Elivh Perez (Mexico City, Mexico/Preparatoria Abierta) fell to Will Horvath and Adam Zeidler, 8-3. In the final doubles match, Jacob Weingart and Caleb Reed blanked
George Fazah (Beirut, Lebanon/Adma International School) and
David Frazier (Louisville, Ohio/Louisville), 8-0.
The Yellow Jackets posted straight-set win in each of the six singles matches. McGee downed Perez at No. 1, 6-0 and 6-1. At No. 2, Horvath beat Kuhl, 6-1 and 6-0, while Barker fell to Kernan at No. 3, by the same score.
At No. 4, Hall lost to Zeidler, 6-2 and 6-4. Weingart blanked Frazier at No. 5, 6-0 and 6-0. In the final match, Gavin Binni beat Fazah, 6-1 and 6-0.
Marietta hosts Mount Union on Wednesday (April 5) at 4:00 p.m.
