LIMA, Ohio — Ohio Northern University swept the Marietta College men's tennis team, 9-0, Saturday (March 25) afternoon. The loss drops Marietta to 3-6 overall and 0-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The Polar Bears move to 6-6 overall and 1-0 in the OAC.
ONU's No. 1 doubles team of T.J. Schultz and Sam Sran defeated
Evan Barker (Washington, W.Va./Parkersburg South) and
Elijah Kuhl (Marietta, Ohio/Wood County Christian (W.Va.)), 8-4. At. No. 2, Peyton Specht and Drew Swisher beat
Spencer Hall (Louisville, Ohio/Louisville) and
Elivh Perez (Mexico City, Mexico/Preparatoria Abierta), 8-2. Kavya Desai and Tristan Munteanu beat
George Fazah (Beirut, Lebanon/Adma International School) and
David Frazier (Louisville, Ohio/Louisville) at No. 3, 8-0.
The Polar Bears posted straight-set wins in each of the six singles matches. At No. 1, Munteanu defeated Perez, 6-0 and 6-1. Specht bested Kuhl at No. 2, 6-3 and 6-2, while Desai beat Barker at No. 3, 6-0 and 6-1.
At No. 4, Hall fell to Swisher, 6-1 and 6-2. In the No.5 match, Nico Rogel beat Frazier, 6-0 and 6-0. At No. 6, Isaac Spar defeated Fazah, 6-2 and 6-1.
Marietta travels to Baldwin Wallace next Saturday (April 1) at 1:00 p.m.
