MARIETTA, Ohio — Marietta College head track and cross country coach
Jason Davis announced the hiring of
Andrea Deem as the Pioneer's assistant track and cross country coach.
"I couldn't be happier with our hire. Andrea brings a wealth of knowledge in the sprints area to our staff," Davis Said. "Our sprints and jumps crew are going to take a monumental leap forward under her guidance. I'm excited to work with her and see the growth of our team with her help."
Deem comes to Marietta after a successful stint as coach at West Virginia Wesleyan College. Deem was hired in 2019 as an assistant coach and was named head coach for the program in 2021. She also served as recruiting coordinator and has coached sprinters as well as high jumpers and hurdlers.
Under Deem's tutelage, her teams won Mountain East Conference Championships in Men's High Jump and Women's 100m and 200m Dash. The Women's team set a MEC record in the Women's High Jump.
Deem had a successful collegiate career at Marshall University. She placed on the Dean's List every year and was a member of the 4 X 400 team that placed fourth at the C-USA Championships.
Originally from Williamstown, West Virginia, Deem graduated from Marshall with a bachelor's degree in Sports Management and Marketing in May of 2018. She went on to complete her Masters in Sports Science and coaching from West Virginia University in May of 2020.
