WESTERVILLE, Ohio — Otterbein University downed Marietta College by the score of 9-0 in Ohio Athletic Conference women's tennis action Wednesday (April 13). The loss drops Marietta to 2-9 overall and 0-3 in the OAC/ Otterbein improves to 13-3 overall and 4-0 in the OAC.
The Cardinals started off with a sweep of all three doubles matches. In the top spot, Erin Storrer and Emma Henson beat
Anne Thompson (Wilmington, Ohio/Clinton-Massie) and
Ashton Binegar (/), 8-1.
Payton Brinks (Mattawan, Mich./Mattawan) and
Madilyn McKitrick (/) fell to Lillia Walter, 8-0, and Madi Mueller at No. 2. In the No. 3 match, Julia Gillin and Rachelle Moses were 8-2 winners over
Parkar Mauk (Marion, Ohio/Marion Harding) and Abigail Hartshorn at No. 3.
Storrer captured the No. 1 singles match with a 6-1, 6-0 win against Thompson. At No. 2, Walter downed Binegar, 6-0 and 6-0, while Henson beat Brinks at No. 3 by the same score.
Hartshorn lost to Mueller at No. 4, 6-0 and 6-1. At No. 5, Moses topped McKitrick, 6-0 and 6-0. In the final singles match, Cassady Shough blanked Mauk, 6-0 and 6-0.
Marietta plays a pair of matches on Saturday (April 16). The Pioneers play at Ohio Christian at 10 a.m. followed by an OAC match against Ohio Northern at 1 p.m. in Circleville.
