DELAWARE, Ohio — The Marietta College men's tennis team lost its first match of the spring season at Ohio Wesleyan University by the score of 9-0. The Pioneers slip to 1-4 on the year, while Ohio Wesleyan improves to 1-3 overall.
Jose Mancilla and Ben Stein defeated
Elliot Britton (High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire/John Hampden Grammar) and
Spencer Hall (Louisville, Ohio/Louisville) 8-1 at N. 1 doubles.
Elivh Perez (Mexico City, Mexico/La Salle) and
Tyler Wise (Marietta, Ohio/Marietta) lost at No. 2 to Marcelo Agular and Alex Riess by the score of 8-0. OWU completed the doubles weep with an 8-0 win at No. 3 from Grant Brooks and Elliot Spicer over
Gavin Donnell (/) and
David Frazier (Louisville, Ohio/Louisville).
The Battling Bishops won the top four singles matches by identical 6-0, 6-1 scores. Stein downed Perez at No. 1, Hall fell to Mancilla, Riess took down Britton and Aguilar beat Wise.
In the No. 5 singles match, Tucker Strawser blanked Frazier, 6-0 and 6-0. Brooks won the No. 6 singles match against Donnell by the scores of 6-0 and 6-0.
The Pioneers are off until spring break when they play several matches at the Spring Tennisfest in Hilton Head, S.C. March 5-12.
