MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College women's rowing team hosted the University of Dayton on the Muskingum River Saturday (Oct. 22) afternoon. The teams faced off in a 5,000-meter head race and 2,500-meter stake race.

"All of our boats showed fight and improved from last week's racing despite a couple of injuries," Marietta head coach Abby Lord said. "We're looking forward to continue making improvements going into the Head of the Schuylkill next week."
 
First on the water were the varsity eights. Dayton's "A" crew covered the 5,000-meters in 18:43 for the victory. The Flyers' "B" shell finished second with a time of 21:24 with Marietta crossing the line in 22:07 to place third.
 
The fours faced off in the 2,500-meter stake race. Dayton's three shells were the first across the line followed by Marietta's varsity 4+ and then the Pioneer novice 4+ crew. The Dayton "A" shell won with a time of 11:06, followed by Dayton "B" (11:34), Dayton "C" (11:43), Marietta varsity (12:45) and Marietta novice (15:10).
 
Marietta will race in the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta on Saturday (Oct. 29) in Philadelphia.
