MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College women's rowing team opened the fall competition season at home in the Head of the Muskingum Saturday (Oct. 15) morning.
"I am pleased with how the women tackled the day," Marietta head coach
Abby Lord said. "We have a young group this season, many of whom this is their first collegiate race and some their first race ever. It was good to see all our healthy athletes have a quality racing experience to start the season."
The Pioneers finished second and third in the varsity 4+ race. Purdue was tagged with a 30-second penalty but still managed to win the race posting a time of 0:22:12, 26 seconds ahead of Marietta A (0:22:38). Marietta B crossed the line in 0:23:26 for third place.
Marietta's varsity 8+ crew led off the morning racing as the lone women's eight in the field. The Pioneers posted a time of 0:18:11.
Marietta will host the University of Dayton on the Muskingum River next Saturday (Oct. 22).
