MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College women's tennis team won its second straight match with a 5-0 win over Ohio Christian University on Saturday (Sept. 25) at the Beren Tennis Center. The Pioneers improve to 2-1 on the season, while Ohio Christian slips to 0-2 overall.
Ashton Binegar and
Anne Thompson (Wilmington, Ohio/Clinton-Massie) defeated Kiley Staley and Rebecca Strawser at No. 1 doubles by the score of 8-1.
Payton Brinks (Mattawan, Mich./Mattawan) and
India Flores (Waverly, W.Va./Williamstown) picked up a forfeit win at No. 2.
Thompson, Binegar and Flores each posted straight-set wins in singles. At No. 1, Thompson beat Staley, 6-0 and 6-4. Binegar was a 6-4, 6-0 winner against Strawser at No. 2, while Flores topped Gabriella Egbert at No. 3, 6-0 and 6-1.
Marietta hosts Westminster College on Saturday (Oct. 25) at 2 p.m.
